- Drug dealers have supreme confidence in the strength of their lead magnets.
- They know that when they give away a free sample, people will be instantly hooked and they will come back for more.
- How do you make a lead magnet like that? One that’s so stimulating that it hooks people in like crazy?
- What if you could create a lead magnet so strong, that you know without a doubt that the first taste will lead to an addiction and hunger for more?
- Here’s 7 ways to create a lead magnet that explodes chemical reactions in the brain, causing secretion of stuff like dopamine, serotonin, and such (that makes your prospects almost helpless in the face of wanting more)

#10. Tell Crazy Stories And Insert Open Loops
- Ever watched a soap opera and been left hanging at the end of an episode?
- They told you an interesting story and gave you a cliffhanger at the end. And you just can’t wait until the next episode to find out what happens.
- Master email marketer, Andre Chaperon, uses a special blend of story telling and open loops that draws people in and gets unbelieveable conversion rates.
- Start the story in your lead magnet. End it in your main offer. Leave them hanging in the middle.
- It’s also known as the Zeigarnik Effect.
- Stories also cause the release of oxytocin in the brain.
#9. Heavy Doses Of Curiosity And Blind Bullets
- According to legendary copywriter, Gary Halbert, out of all the appeals, curiosity is probably the most powerful.
- One of the easiest ways to create a heavy dose of curiosity in your lead magnet, is to include a ton of “blind” bulletpoints referring to your offer.
- Blind bullets are bullets that create curiosity, teasing the reader, and leaving them wanting to know more.
- Very often people will purchase your main product just because one bullet point appealed to them.
#8. Give Results In Advance
- One of the surest ways to create dopamine in the brain is to have a goal and to achieve that goal.
- In your lead magnet, you can create small goals for your prospects, and lay out a simple step by step system for them to achieve those small goals.
- A simple way to approach this is using a method called “Results In Advance“, coined by Frank Kern.
- Create small goals for your prospect and give easy ways to achieve those goals. Each small goal accomplished should bring prospects closer to the ultimate goal, which is taught in your main product.
#7. Make Them Solve The Puzzle
- Another simple way to create dopamine in the brain is to solve a puzzle.
- A research study has shown that doing this can increase both brand recognition and preference.
- Think of ways to include small, relevant puzzles in your lead magnet that prospects can solve.
- Here’s how some companies are doing this…
#6. Introduce Some Newness and Novelty
- The brain loves new and novel.
- You can include some aspects of this by talking about and showing your prospects things that they’ve never heard of before.
- As master strategist, Jay Abraham, often says – when others zig, you zag.
- Everyone’s talking about how “The Money’s In The List”? You tell them about how the “List Is Your Biggest Money Sink”. And have the logic to back it up.
- Give your prospects several “Aha!” moments. Hit them from unexpected angles.
- Give them interesting facts and true stories that they’ve never heard of before.
#5. Turn Your Lead Magnet Into A Game
- Also known as gamification. Make your marketing fun. You know what I’m sayin’?
- Contests and competitions make great lead magnets. They also create amazing levels of engagement.
- Offer some killer prizes to get people on fire.
- Gamification causes a combo release of dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and even endorphins.
- Used the right way, this little tactic can easily generate 100,000 subscribers in just a single week.
#4. Get Them Motivated
- If nothing else, just create intense levels of motivation in your prospects using your lead magnet.
- According to Dr. Forest Tennant, world authority on pain management and drug addiction, “The combination of hearing about success and its being delivered in an enthusiastic manner activates the pituitary glands, which in turn floods the system with those endorphins, dopamine, norepinephrine, and some of the other neurotransmitters.”
- Enthusiastically tell your prospects about how successful they will be once they put the principles you teach into action. Get them pumped up.
- Or, just get an autoplaying motivational video to do the job for you.
#3. Paint A Vivid Picture In Their Brain
- People are visual creatures. But most marketers just use plain, dull, boring, old and musty scripts of text in their Lead Magnets.
- Instead, use your words to paint a vivid, emotional and visual picture of the end result of following what you have to say.
- Selling is an art. Marketing is an art. Use your words to create the painting of your art. Paint your pictures well, and you will create intense desire.
- For example, instead of talking about a “3 cheese pepperoni pizza”, you talk about a “careful combination of the freshest, most fragrant, bright red tomatoes from the lush plains of Tuscany (you can hear the wind blowing through the valley), delicately pressed with tender, loving hands, to produce a delicious tongue-tantalizing hot tomato sauce (a few sun-dried and chopped chili flakes sprinkled in between), which is cooked to perfection over medium heat by infusing the smoking fragrance of the choicest cloves of pan-fried sizzling garlic, onion and diced red jalapenos, finally overlaid on a crispy whole-wheat crust with 3 different golden, melting cheeses oozing and dripping with mozzarella goodness, made with full cream organic milk that was pulled effortlessly from happy pasture-grazing cows in Switzerland”.
- Are you hungry yet?
#2. Show Them A Dramatic Demonstration
- In your Lead Magnet, don’t just tell them about the benefits they are about to receive by putting your teachings into action.
- Show them. Using a variety of pictures, screenshots, testimonials, and more.
- Better yet, demonstrate the power of what you have to offer using a highlight case study as your lead magnet.
- Not just any case study. For your lead magnet, you should make it as dramatic as humanly possible.
- Watch how American Tourister dramatically demonstrates the ultra-toughness of their suitcases. Or how Blendtec shows that their blender really can blend everything. Just like they say.
- Don’t just tell them your pizza tastes good. Give them a video of you eating it in their face.
#1. Give Them A Little Souvenir
- Most people treat their Lead Magnets as a one-off thing. A little report that’s read once, and then thrown away thereafter.
- This can be a little wasteful. There’s no reason why you cannot extract maximum leverage with your lead magnet.
- Instead of something that’s used or read just once and thrown away, why not include something that they will take out and use over and over and over again?
- Thus, they get reminded of you and your offer repeatedly as the days go by.
- Perhaps include a little software or web app tool as a free gift. Something useful that they’ll come back to use again and again.
- Include a rotating banner ad that keeps reminding them of your main offer every time they use it.
- Perhaps a private online checklist that is constantly updated, and that they can bookmark and come back to again and again.
- Couple this with the fact that they’re on your list already, and getting your autoresponder reminders, and you can watch your offer take-up rate go through the roof!
- But wait… there’s one more…
#0. One Of My Most Powerful Lead Magnet “Tricks”
- This is one of the most effective things I’ve done, and I should probably do this more. You can combine this method with a viral uptake offer, and other such things.
- So… turn your Lead Magnet into the first part of a bigger series.
- So for example, offer Part 1 of your training in your Lead Magnet. Make it clear that your Lead Magnet is Part 1 of the training.
- At the end, it links to your main offer which clearly states itself as Part 2 of the training. And you can have Part 3 as a separate product.
- It’s like creating a Trilogy novel. You can give away the first part. But without a doubt, if your first part is good enough, people will come knocking down your door for Parts 2 and 3.
- The key is to fill Part 1 with action-packed value. But let it be incomplete. In order to get the whole piece of the puzzle, they have no choice but to continue on in Part 2.
