- Want more opt-ins to your list?
- Your blog is probably the easiest place for you to start capturing some new subscribers.
- But if you’re like the vast majority of blog owners out there, you’re probably under-utilizing the virtual real estate on your blog. Severely under-utilizing.
- Here are 10 “secret” places on your blog you can use to capture more leads that most marketers will never know about…
- If you don’t take advantage of these special spots, you’re passing up on the biggest opportunity ever!
#10. Disguise It As A Post
- For most people, a blog post is just a blog post.
- But what if you could make it more than a blog post? What if you could take… say… your squeeze page, or opt-in box, and disguise it as a blog post?
- This special plugin allows you to do just that.
- It allows you to take any blog post on your site, and redirect it anywhere you want. Preferably to your squeeze page.
- So when visitors are browsing your blog, and they see an article they like. And they click through to read it… *BOOM*. They are taken straight to your Squeeze Page. So they can opt-in.
- Or if you want to do it the multi-step way, instead of sending them to your squeeze page when they click on the post, you can make it so that when they click on the link to the blog post, it pops-up an opt-in form.
- Pretty cool. Create some random posts from time to time that actually redirect to your squeeze page. Mingle them up with some of your real blog posts. And you’ve got it made.
#9. Show Your Disguise Everywhere
- Take what you learned from point #10, and turn it into a sticky post.
- So when visitors arrive on your blog, the first article they see is one that brings them to an opt-in opportunity.
#8. Make A Nav Bar Stand Out
- One of the most heavily clicked places on your blog is going to be your navigation bar. So it’s logical that you have a link there to your Squeeze Page. Or Opt-In Popup.
- But the problem with this for most blog owners is… that you’re probably leaving a lot of clicks on the table.
- You could get a ton more clicks to your Squeeze Page (and opt-ins), if you make that particular link on your navigation bar “pop out”.
- You can accomplish this using a special little Menu Icon plugin. It allows you to place an “attention grabbing” icon on any link in your menu.
- Just put an icon on the link to your Squeeze Page. And watch your opt-ins soar!
#7. Make Your Nav Bar Follow Them
- Combine this concept with the one in Point #8.
- Make your navigation bar sticky using this plugin. So it follows your visitor around the screen.
- Now you get even more clicks on your menu Squeeze Page link.
- You’ll probably get a lot of clicks to all the other pages that you link to in your navigation bar now as well.
- So you might as well have some links on those pages going to your Squeeze Page too. Especially your About Page.
#6. The Menu Dropdown Surprise
- Another almost never-utilized piece of real estate on your blog is the Dropdown Menu. It’s basically the link that magically appears when you mouse-over certain links in your navigation bar.
- This is a perfect place to surprise your visitors when they mouse-over your navigation. Use some action phrases. Something like “WAIT! Click Here Quick!”.
- And when they click on that dropdown link? They get taken to your Opt-In Page or Form.
- Place a Surprise Dropdown Squeeze Link under your About page link when it gets a mouse-over. And any other link in your navigation bar that you desire.
- Combine this technique with Point #8.
#5. Before Or After
- After every blog post, you’ll likely see some post meta data.
- It talks about stuff like… who wrote the post, the date it was written, the category it’s filed under, etc.
- Insert a link to your Squeeze Page or Opt-In Popup right here. So visitors have the chance to click through and opt-in before and after they read your article.
#4. The Sidebar That Chases You
- Especially if you’re writing really long blog posts, you’re missing out on some prime real estate in your sidebar.
- Because for most blogs, after you scroll down some ways down, they run out of widgets to show you in the sidebar.
- Easily remedy this problem using the Q2W3 fixed widget plugin.
- It enables you to turn any of your sidebar widgets into sticky little things. That follow you around as you scroll down.
- Using this, you can have a sidebar banner that keeps following you around, and links to your Squeeze Page.
#3. Images Are Lonely Without Them
- Other than the headline, it is one of the most highly viewed areas on any page or article. Yet, so many people miss out on using it to their benefit. What is this magical thing?
- That’s right. It’s the image caption. The short blurb of text that comes immediately after any image.
- In his book, Cashvertising, Drew Whitman mentions how studies show that twice as many people read the caption as they do the body copy. Yet, very few people actually use this image caption space to maximum effect.
- If it’s relevant to the image you have in your blog post, consider including a short, relevant call to action in your caption. With a link to your opt-in form.
- A lot of people are watching this spot. Be sure not to disappoint them.
- You can even put a caption right under your post’s Featured Image using this plugin.
#2. All External Links Belong To You
- It’s not just stuff that you have on your blog that belongs to you. Now, space on any external link on your site can be yours for the list building.
- Tools like Sniply allow you to add Call To Actions on any external link you share.
- Direct people to your Squeeze Page from any external links you have on your blog. Wow.
#1. Hijack Your Comments Section
- One of the most active places on your blog is likely your Comments Section. If you have one.
- There are a couple of things you can do to hijack this section to your advantage.
- First thing is, you can provide the option to automatically subscribe blog commenters to your email list. You can do this using plugins like the Newsletter Signup plugin.
- Second thing is, you can be the one to always leave the first comment for any new blog post! Yes… and when you do this… you link to your Squeeze Page or Opt-In Popup.
- But wait… the last technique is a killer…
#0. You’re Missing Out BIG TIME If You Miss This
- One of the most highly clicked places on any blog post are the images. People LOVE clicking on images.
- However, not every image is clickable. Because no one has that many links to insert.
- So why not take advantage of the ingrained “clicking habit” by including a popup “two-step”opt-in form that appears for every image in your blog post when you click on it?
- It’s easy to do. Just insert your pop-up link for the image. The opt-in form will appear when anyone clicks on your image. It won’t disrupt their reading by directing them to another page since it’s just a pop-up.
